The Wolf Spirit story continued
One year after the totem pole was carved, my fiancé had to go away to protect his life and entered a witness protection program. Our relationship ended, and I felt like I was experiencing the worst time of my life. I will probably never see him again — but he told me that he was always going to be close to me even though he was far away! Gives me goose bumps every time I look at the totem pole and think about what he said!
About two years after the totem pole had been in my house, I started seeing shadows darting around the house. In the beginning — I didn’t realize the shadows were connected to the totem pole. I knew trees had wood spirits, which I learned from the Master Chin Yin during her spiritual retreat. During my training with Master Chin Yin — I learned how to connect with living tree spirits. In the beginning, I thought wood spirits were only connected to living trees — but my totem pole taught me differently.
As time went on, the wood spirit was appearing in front of me, my family, friends and roommates. Everyone that visited my home saw the shadow of the wood spirit. I realized the wood spirit was settling in at my home — and guarding my home and the surrounding environment, just like the wolf guards the forest.
I did some research about wood spirits and learned they are the protectors of the forest, taking up residence to keep everything in order. Seeing a wood spirit represents good luck, health and happiness — but sometimes the reverse of good luck, especially if you have bad karma following you around.
My Native American friend named the wood spirit Tashina, and it stuck. The name Tashina — in the Native American Heritage means, “One That Walks Softly.”
