Get your free masterclass here: How to Have Unshakeable Vision and Clarity in Times of Uncertainty
The other day felt overwhelming. More Covid updates and new rules… listening to Naomi Klein’s book On Fire… 4 outfit changes with my toddler because having fun with mud is important.
This, topped with so many other thoughts, ideas and to do lists, was making me feel pulled in loads of different directions.
In a world that constantly wants your attention, how on earth are you supposed to focus? Yet, focus and clarity is what we all need more than ever right now — individually and collectively.
This is when I decided at the end of the day to do Jon and Missy Butcher’s free Lifebook masterclass: How To Have Unshakable Vision & Clarity In Times Of Uncertainty, which helped to inspire me and just make me instantly feel better and more hopeful about everything.
Here’s a preview video of the masterclass
What is the Masterclass about?
In short this masterclass is about having complete clarity and focus for your whole life. Think of it as a free taster to Jon and Missy Butcher’s signature course Lifebook.
What makes this masterclass different from pretty much any other programme I’ve done is the holistic approach. Rather than focusing only on your career, health or monetary goals separately, this is about giving your whole life an upgrade in 12 different areas.
The masterclass starts by getting you to do a quick self evaluation of your own life to figure out where you are today. This way you can start from exactly where you’re at right now which is going to be different for everyone.
As the masterclass unfolds, you also learn the three hidden reasons that hold people back, the importance of taking the time to stop so you can gain perspective, how to get unshakeable inner strength plus lots more.
Before I go into more depth about the masterclass, one of the things that really stood out for me was learning that 87% of people hate their job (I think this is from the US). I’m not sure of the source for this and I’m sure I’ve heard similar statistics echoed over the years, but to me, this is really devastating.
It’s not just individuals who will benefit from having fulfilling work, but society as a whole.
It’s then suggested that the reason for this is because our education system is so focused on just a few areas of life — mainly career and getting a well paid job at the expense of everything else.
The biggest takeaway here is to take into account all areas of your life when you’re crafting your life vision and not just one or two areas such as your career or monetary goals.
In the past I might have been intimidated by this. In fact, I’ve just assumed that focusing on one goal or area of life at a time is what you do. But as you will learn in this masterclass, everything is interconnected. We must look at the details of our lives and the bigger picture of how everything fits together. This is so important.
What are the 12 areas of life that are covered in Lifebook?
To summarise, here they are in no particular order:
- Health and fitness
- Intellectual
- Emotional
- Character
- Spiritual
- Love relationship
- Parenting
- Social
- Career
- Financial
- Quality of Life
- Life Vision

Aligning your vision with the world
If you’re familiar with Vishen Lakhiani who is co-founder of the global education and personal development company Mindvalley. He took the Lifebook programme 10 years ago when it was running live, and attributes a lot of his success to this, describing it as one of the most powerful personal growth programs he’s been through.
About halfway through the masterclass, the point was made that everyone wants to help others but it starts first by doing the work on yourself and crafting a vision. This isn’t just another programme trying to get you to be an entrepreneur or mould you into a copy of the author. It’s designed to get you out of the ‘photocopied life’ — whatever that means for you, so you can have an impact depending on what’s most important to you. In Vishen’s case, his vision with Mindvalley appears to be about transforming the education system.
This video sums up what Mindvalley is all about here. To me, it genuinely feels like the Lifebook programme in action.
The fact is that given the challenges we face, education doesn’t need to be reformed — it needs to be transformed. — Sir Ken Robinson
I’m going slightly off course now, but a while back I was at a talk where we were shown the 17 Sustainable Development goals of the United Nations to be reached by 2030. The speaker was encouraging people to align their visions with one of the U.N Sustainability goals. I’m going to share them here because, even though this Masterclass starts with you and the vision for your life, it might also help to see how it can fit into the bigger picture of the world too.
What’s after the Masterclass?
Once I’ve finished Lifebook I’ll be writing about my experiences over the coming months. But if you are interested in doing the programme, you can find out everything you need here. I should also add that it’s free, and I don’t mean, free for a month and then you have to pay.
Because the authors of the course want people to complete it and be committed because they want you to get results, you pay an accountability deposit of $500. And then once you’ve completed the course you can get your deposit back.
So, if you’re in a position where you can’t commit financially right now, or whatever your reasons, you can get the course for free. I love this idea, because it means it’s open to everyone, but having to pay an accountability payment up front means you will likely be more committed to getting results for yourself.
