Without question, lucid dreaming has definitely been one of the most mind blowing things I’ve ever done and if you’ve never tried it, I hope this post inspires you to give it a go.
Other than having a few spontaneous lucid dreams as a child, the first time I properly learnt about and got really excited about lucid dreaming was through a talk by lucid dreaming teacher Charlie Morley at Secret Garden Party well over 10 years ago now.
Since my first lucid dream about a month after that talk, I’ve continued to have more lucid dreams on and off over the years, although I would love to have them frequently.
There’s a lot of information out there which can be overwhelming, so in this post I hope to give you all you need to start by sharing my top three lucid dreaming resources for you.
Top lucid dreaming book
Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming Book by Stephen LaBerge and Howard Rheingold (Amazon affiliate link)
This is by far the best book I’ve read on lucid dreaming. Everything you need to know is in the book. This is the book that I believe inspired a lot of others too, so it’s definitely worth getting. You’ll find different lucid dreaming methods, the science behind lucid dreaming, plus ideas on what to do when you actually have a lucid dream.
Because I first read this book after Charlie Morley’s talk, I felt incredibly inspired and had my first lucid dream two weeks after finishing the book. I’m not so sure, however, that I would have been as inspired or committed if I hadn’t listened to the live talk.
Top lucid dreaming website
When I first started reading Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming I also Googled some of the different lucid dreaming techniques, which is how I found the website World of Lucid Dreaming which is actually the same name as the opening chapter of LaBerge’s book. I was particularly interested in the Wake Back to Bed Method (WBTB).
The World of Lucid Dreaming website was by far the clearest in describing exactly how to implement this, so I highly recommend you check them out. Here is the article on the Wake Back to Bed Method, which is often seen as the easiest way to lucid dream. This is also how I had my first lucid dream!
